1954 Les Paul Goldtop

Materials:

This Les Paul was at sometime in the '60s painted red to match the other guitars in the band. The owner, who had purchased the guitar new in 1954, regretted repainting it from the moment it was completed. It was recently refinished here at the ReRanch using the original gold top powder. The pickup cavities were still gold and the new finish and the original gold color were indistinguishable. Also of interest, the top was sprayed using ReRanch aerosol gold spray cans which was then clear coated with clear nitrocellulose lacquer. The back, sides and neck were sealed with Parks Sand and Sealer and clear coated with nitrocellulose as well.
