I'm thinking of spraying a new ash body with Mary Kaye with no grain filler....what kind of results can I expect?
I would then clear coat over the MK.
I'm not into "mirror finishes", wanting more of a distressed and satin look (think Fano and the like).

Is that what I'll get, or will it be a disaster?

TIA....Geezer

The wood pores will show. The finish will have "texture grain" look. If that's fine with you then go for it.

Grain filling is very difficult. The first time I tried it, it was a bad effort. So I just took the paint off and started over. I spent a lot more time getting it smooth. It made a difference.
