A hero of mine and a giant in Australian music.

Hard to believe, but when George got back to Sydney from London in '72 Malcolm and Angus had a band toying with fancy chord stuff like Steely Dan covers.

George yelled at 'em ( best Scottish accent) " noo - that's noo it ! " and schooled them in his brand of simple straight ahead riffing.

The rest is history .RIP.

I worked at Alberts studio a lot and never saw George without a cig in hand and the ashtray was always very full. George was about 5'3" , I'm 6'4" & always joked with him about smoking stunting your growth .

Way too early IMO.
