Hi Guys,
I sent my dad's Hofner bass pickup out to be rewound by Curtis about 3 months ago. Since then i've sent him several emails asking about the progress or outlook to have it back, but he hasn't responded to any of my emails.... Has anyone had any experience with his service? I know that he used to hang out here in the past. Thanks in advance!

That sounds unusual.

I've had Curtis do pickups for me and it's always come along fairly quickly.

I hope he's OK. We're facebook friends, I'll check in on his profile and see if I see recent activity.

I would appreciate that! I've heard nothing but good things about him, which is why I'm surprised that he wouldn't shoot me a quick email if there would be a delay.

doesn't look super active on facebook recently, also seems he might have just done a big move across state lines.

i hate to state the obvious, but have you checked your spam filter?

I would not be too surprise if he's moving again.

He moved from Arizona to South Carolina [ or was it North Carolina? Somewhere to the East Coast ] to San Bernardino, CA.

But he is a stand up guy. I've had some rewounds from him and they're my favorite Strat pickups. I asked for restoration, he used the same wire of that era!

I had him rewind a set of Fender Wide Range pickups just when his business was ramping up and waited right around 3 months.
Well worth the wait, he's a great winder. Cool

Thanks for all the replies! I have checked my spam filter, nothing there. I'll try shooting him another message. Dad's in no hurry, so it's no big deal waiting, especially since it seems that Curtis is an excellent rewinder!

always possible, too, that you got caught in his spam filter somehow. Might not hurt to follow him on Twitter (or on his FB fan page) or something and send him a DM.

I saw on my Facebook feed a few days ago he was in the hospital. He may still be recovering.

Yes, he had a gall bladder stone removed, it seems he's on the mend. He's a great guy, please be patient, I think he gets home shortly!

Just saw that Curt posted on Facebook. Probably a good time to catch him there.
