Hi - Anyone have any experience with the Weber 10A100 vs the less expensive Signature 10 alnico? Both are 7oz magnets and 1" voice coils.

I'm sure that the Vintage series are better speakers I'm just wondering about specifics - better quality magnet? I'm replacing a Jensen reissue in a tweed champ. I have a 12A125 in a 5E3 that is a great speaker.

Thanks for any info

Yeah, I too don't know how much differ the Vintage Series -vs- the Signature Series.

I do have a 12A100T and that breaks up very quickly. You don't have to push the speaker much. "T" is something about the paper used or the cone (I forget) but it has very bright sound compared to a 12A100.

From what I've heard, the signature series are contracted out (still built to Weber specs)...Don't know if that's true or not, but I have a 12" sig series in my 5e3, and I'm satisfied! Cool

there are many differences. I've owned both. There is no comparison.

As for specifics, I know the Vintage series has the old Jensen-style paper voice coil former while the sig series uses the newer/cheaper Kapton plastic.

I also think the size of the voice coil gap might be tighter/narrower in the vintage series, which gives the speaker more efficiency and a different kind of sound.

My favorite 10" speaker on the market today is the 10A125. Wonderful speakers. The signature series are OK. I would call them "good for the money," with the possible exception of the Signature 12B, which is really good-- more than just "good for the money."
