Hello electronics forum, hopefully hardware falls into place here too. I've made a few posts about an Epiphone Dot project on the finishing side and have mentioned I'm doing most of my shopping from Stewmac.

I'd like to get a new bridge and replacement tailpiece and saw stewmac also sells a few varieties as well. The prices seem pretty good so I was hoping I could get my bridge/tailpiece and maybe even my tuners there too to cut down shipping costs. Of course, I had a couple questions though.

1. Since the Dot is an archtop, I was wondering what some of the benefits of an archtop bridge is? The ones at stewmac are mounted on a piece of rosewood I believe. Or if a regular set bridge would be more suitable.

2. Can anyone vouch for Stewmac's hardware quality?

I appreciate the lookovers fellows. Stay classy.

StewMac is great, but you can get the same or equivalent hardware from Allparts. We have several dealers here. One will speak up soon.

Be ready with your list. If you have the part numbers ready it will speed things up. Cool

Oh really? Well then maybe I should just take a trip out to the Guitar Center 45 minutes away. They sell a lot of Allparts hardware.

Technically an Epiphone dot isn't an arch top, it's a thin line hollow body. An arch top bridge would not be the best choice, stick with a TOM.

Since you're in Iowa City, bring the guitar over to my shop so we make sure you get the correct parts. Let AM Guitar Repair be your 'one stop shop'. Wink

Thanks,

Alan

This is really cool...
There is ReRanch and folks hangin', sharing, learning, and now we get to see a man with a guitar get hooked up with a guitar doctor. Cool

Have fun with your Epiphone and pictures please! *thumbs up*
