I've been asked to wind a set of strat pickups for a lefty, and I was wondering if there was anything specific or if I should reverse them compare to a righty. I've been through all my books about pickups but I couldn't find any clue on that.

I wouldnt have thought you'd need to reverse wind or anything. The only thing I can think of is if you're going to stagger the pole pieces then they would need to be reverse staggered.

I've yet to see an aftermarket pickup with 'left handed' printed on the box

But I really don't know anything about all this Embarassed

Thanks for the reply. I didn't mention reversing the staggered pole pieces as it was the only I knew of Wink I remember I have a lefty fender 57/62 strat pickup somewhere at home, I'm going to find out where it is and take a closer look Cool

Reverse the stagger of the magnets. Everything else should stay the same.

Being a lefty and repairing for a long time. No real difference unless as mentioned, The stagger if they are staggered.

or if they are a Hendrix freak....use the righty stagger Wink

I have some lefty Toneriders. I will look at them when I get home to see if I can tell.

Thank you for the help, we're all going to check that out Smile The pickups are for that black strat I built last year, it's a lefty strat played righty, so to nail the "Hendrix spirit", pickups should be also lefty. At the moment, it is a set of righty CS 69, which my customer isn't crazy about.

I found that old lefty pickup. They are the same as the righty, except for the pole pieces.

Thank you for the help Smile
