Here's an almost completed song I recorded with my partner called "You". Its definitely more of a pop song than anything else so it may not be to alot of the tastes here but I think it sounds cool. I am playing bass and all guitar. My friend is singing and did all of the programmed drums, (for now, we still are auditioning drummers) and he also did all of the mixing. It's still not entirely completed, we still need some backing vocals and to really master the whole thing. Once we get a live drummer we'll re-record the whole thing or have him play over the BFD drums.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm very interested to know.
BTW, the song is copywritten, the proper way the the correct channels with government paperwork so I think its safe to have it loaded on here.

I like it Joe!

Catchy tunes are always more appealing to the masses.

Drumming sounds really good, what do you guys use for that?

Are you playing the lead as well?

If so, I had no idea that you had those kinds of chops Very Happy

My only critique and I know you haven't done the final mix down would be to bring the vocals a little more forward in the mix.

Don't hate me for this Very Happy

It kind of makes me think of Bon Jovi in a really pissy mood, and I don't really know why! I think it's fun - but I always like songs that are slamming exes/bad partners.

I was listening for the bass but am only on a laptop, so that and the kick didn't put in an appearance Sad

Try this http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=858949

Its is titled You Master 3-8-10

Yes Tom, that is me playing all of the guitars and bass.
we are using BFD drums for Pro Tools. They sound great, have a ton of kits to choose from as well as all of the hardware like different kick pedals and beaters, mic placements, room plates among other things. Like I said, there is still some compression and mixing to be done as well as some backing vocals and some "cleanup". The vocals will be brought out more in the end as well.

Yes, it does have a pop sound to it as I said, I was expecting that kind of Bon Jovi type of reaction. I like the lyrics as they are definitely pointed and blaming. It was a fun song to do, it has a cool bounce to it and is as far away from the blues as it gets which is exactly what we were going for. I am not going to be offended by someones opinion, its fine and all good. I appreciate the honest input and reactions.

Joe,

I liked it a lot. I do think the bass needs to come up some in the mix but again I'm listening at work through a laptop. Course I do have a nice set of Logitech speakers...

Cool though, very cool!

Chris

The bass is loud, PC speakers aren't going to do it much justice but trust me its loud in the mix, although I have a pair of Logitech speakers here as well and I hear it cut right through.

Thank you for the criticism and accolades, I really appreciate it.
