Ok... this one's for fun!

Here's my situation:

1. I finished up the HoneyDripper guitar last night and played it. Of course, my wife thought it was great, but... it "counts" as a new guitar.

2. I have my "new" amp coming in tomorrow, courtesy of Tom, who debugged it for me. This will count as a "new" amp.

3. I bought a bass cab last week, which counted as a "new" amp.

4. My new Swede comes in tomorrow. You guessed it, it counts as a "new" guitar.

So... even though the wife and I decided I would take a set amount of money each month and do what I want with it... she's still a woman (I saw her dressing this morning and can verify that hasn't changed) and is going to want to express her disapproval.

So... what do I do? Remember... the poll is for fun. This represents a situation most of us face with our spouses. Wink I'll be posting an analysis of the responses later that I hope you will all enjoy.

Dude! That want you to keep things like this from them. They know you are doing it and it makes them feel better about all the $hit they do not tell you. My motto is "It is always better to get forgiveness than it is to get permission"! Cool Laughing Laughing Laughing

I vote postpone the inevitable.

Does she get money to spend on what she wants each month?

My wife usually doesn't notice my new toys unless it is something so totally different that it stands out.
So if I take a delivery while she is gone I can usually get away with it.

But the last two times the brown truck has stopped in front of my house she was home.......dang it!

But she has occasionally taken revenge by going "shopping" to buy stuff for herself.
I am fortunate in several ways with her, she doesn't really care for jewelry, she is not a clothes or shoes horse and she doesn't blow money unnecessarily.

Man up, and next time include her in the decision. Ask if she likes "A" or "B" better. Explain why one is better than the other, and what it will do that stuff you already have won't do. That shows her that you respect her opinion.

Women like that crap.

Buy her something "sparkly" to distract her attention from your new stuff. Laughing

Fortunately my wife notices very little.
But I have guitars all over the place and the same goes for my office.
I am always buying and selling guitars so she really doesnt care.

TRavst- let me know how you like the Swede. Which model did you get?

Next time, ask them to ship whatever you're buying in a Victoria's Secret box! Laughing Laughing 99 votes so far, and not one vote for " try to be more sympathetic to HER needs"!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

You need to sneakilly include her.

Women love telling you what to do/wear/read/ everything, so make her an accomplice, and you'll find you have a bigger budget.

And it sets a precedent when you slip in something big.
May 5th: you:"look at these guitars, hah, what fool would spend that kind of money?! but which one do you think is nicer?!"

may 29th big brown truck pulls up. You: " But honey, when I asked you about them you said to get this one. After all, no one calls me a fool as often as you do, so I assumed you knew we were talking about me!"

Oh, should she happen to see the big Victoria's Secret box and asks about it, just say" Honey, I don't want to ruin the surprise! You'll know soon enough!". Then when she sees the new guitar a week later, you can say, "I told you you'd know soon enough, surprise!" . Laughing Laughing Laughing

John, if your wife is like minbe, and it sounds like she probably is, she notices everything. I hide nothing from her, I tell her and do it. She never gives me grief about music stuff. She may bust my balls now and then but5 neverin a begrudging way. I like to think I "do" something right to get that kind of leeway. Wink

Any option with "man up" in it sounds good. But that doesn't mean be a prick about it. Tell her, and then offer to back off next month, or take her out to dinner or something she would like.

You're gonna be in the dog house. The question is: How LONG do you wanna be in the dog house?
