Howdy all,

It's been a dog's age since I dropped in here! Hope everyone is good?

Random kind of thing I came into a small CNC and I need to learn to use it pronto. Is there anyone here who makes bodies, necks, etc on a CNC?

I have exactly NO experience, need to figure out where to start, including best software to use. I dabbled in AutoCAD a few years ago but from the little research I did apparently that's not necessary?

Anyway holler back if you can give a newbie some pointers!

Cheers

I got a CNC router a little over a year ago, and am nearing completion of my first scratch built guitar with it. I'm using Fusion 360, which is made by Autodesk, the same people who make AutoCad. The nice thing about it, is it's free for hobbyists, but incredibly powerful. It also has CAM built in, so you don't have to worry about compatibility importing your models into a different program.

There also seems to be a fair number of luthiers starting to use it, as I've come across tutorials specifically about making guitar parts. What CNC machine do you have?

Thanks man I have a Nextwave Automation Shark. Trying to figure it all out: reading the manual and watching tutorials before I even attempt any cuts. Hoping to get familiar by Christmas or so!
