My 16-year old son has been taking guitar classes in school for the past two years and has far surpassed my abilities (oh, to be a teenager with nothing to do and all the time in the world to practice...). Anyway, I thought I'd surprise him with an early summer surprise. I'm taking him to see Toto tonight. I even scored center stage orchestra seats.

When he sees Steve Lukather playing, he's going to lose his mind. We're losing the greats far too quickly and he is definitely one of them. I know Toto gets a bad rap from a lot of people for being a "corporate" band, but if you've never seen them, you don't know what you're missing. And their last album, Toto XIV, is probably their best stuff since Toto IV.

I know this has nothing to do with refinishes or anything. I'm just excited for my son...

Should be a great first show! Have a blast. I'm making the 2 hour trek to the San Jose area tonight. I won tickets for Roger Waters last week. I never saw Pink Floyd, this is probably as close as I'll get.

It was an incredible show. They did some songs they haven't done live since the 70s/early 80s. Luke was dead on!

Pfft.

Those guys were and are top shelf musicians. To those who diss bands like Toto, I throw dog poop on your shoes.

Cool

Amen, brother. Our next show is Boston at the end of July.

Took him to see Boston this past Sunday night in Bristow, VA. His first Boston concert and he's even more stoked about playing the guitar than he ever has been. Probably the coolest thing about the show was that toward the end, Tom Scholz's wife was walking around the orchestra section where we were seated handing out Tom's guitar picks. He and I both snagged one.

We were seated directly in front of the soundboard and it was probably the best sound I've ever heard at any concert.
