That hits hard, RIP Mate.

I got to know Allan pretty well in '72 and saw his early gigs , most memorable playing solo opening for Barney Kessel at Ronnie Scotts and saw him with Tempest and also Soft Machine .

There were only two players that advanced in London back then. One was Allan, the other was John Etheridge who Allan recommended as his replacement in Soft Machine. http://www.johnetheridge.com/
