Sorry, I know this has been covered here a number of times but I need a quick reminder...

I'm going to buy a couple of guitar stands today and I know that there is a certain type of stand that I should be avoiding if I have a nitro finish but I can't remember which one that is. So which stand should I NOT buy? Is it the stand that has the hard black foam or is it the one with that tannish rubber? Which one causes damage to nitro finishes and which one is safe? Thanks!

I don't trust any stand. I always put a cotton cloth on them.

I use guitar stand fuzzy covers.
One could cut the fingers off large gloves and tape them on with cloth tape, or use baby socks.
Also, if I'm not playing a guitar it's in the case (except those I play daily in rotation).

i have some multi-stands with a sort of black cushiony stuff... not "foam" exactly... not sure what to call it.

It has been absolutely fine.

The dangerous ones are the ones with surgical tubing.

I have 10 of the Ultimate Support black top end stands. Spongy black covers on the bottom supports, and a hard black rubber supporting the neck. After 2 years I now have 8 vintage guitars with 2 black stripes each where the guitars sat on the foam. It goes all the way through the finish, can't be buffed out. Evil or Very Mad
