Raul.

Do you want a bunch of Radio tubes? I have a stash you can have. Small, large, recto's, RF... you name it. Of course I pulled most of the preamp type tubes. But there is probably enough odd tubes to make an LA2a comp of sorts...

PM me if you want them.

Joe

Favorite all time? JAN Phillips 6l6's. I'd buy these buy the truck load if I could.

I think I saw some Phillips 6l6gc's somewhere at a fairly decent price. Just a little more than the TAD tubes. Maybe I'll try those.
Also I have read good things about the Winged-C tubes.Anyone here tried them?

Winged-c- 6l6 are the bomb. A pair really opened up my Lonestar Classic. Gonna buy another matched pair when I get the $$.

Yup, I have a quartet of Winged C 6L6s in my '66 Twin. They're a vast improvement over the funky Ruby tubes that were in there before. Granted, I've never had the chance to A/B 'em against NOS JANs or anything, but they sound great to my ears, and they're not obscenely expensive.

Funny, but I put Ruby 6L6s in my HRD, and it was a huge improvement over the previous 3 sets of Groove Tubes I had in it. Laughing

On a side note, I put JJs in my Blues Jr and it made a world of difference.

I was talking to George at Metro Amps last weekend. They are now using Rubys. George explained that their experience is that the Rubys are very consistent. I'd never tried them before, but picked up a pair locally a couple of weeks ago to try in my Gibson.

Anybody tried the Winged =C= seconds from Tube Depot for $19? They say that they have cosmetic flaws or the fall out of the bias range for certain amp manufacturers.

The Winged C always cracks me up. In the 90s I was on a comedy writing forum and my screen name started with a "C". My signature was almost identical to the winged C thing.

=Carcazoid=

This should explain a lot. Laughing

Well, I may not be giving those Rubys a fair shake. They were in the amp when I bought it ten years ago, and I have no idea how long they were in there before that - but it was clear that the Winged Cs sounded more "Twin-y" than the Rubys did, for whatever reason. They might just have not been working right any more. Your mileage may vary, etc. etc. etc. Laughing

I have used Ruby 6L6's and loved the tone of them.... Never tried the Winged C 6L6's but the EL34's are stellar.

To my ears they are both great tubes. The Rubys break up a little earlier and the Winged C's seem to have a little more output with more headroom.
