No way!! That's incredible. I've been collecting since I was 5, and I would have seriously soiled myself if that had happened to me!! Laughing Good for them!! Very Happy

I just read a similar story about a guy who bought some glass photo negatives for $45--and it turns out they are probably early Ansel Adams work worth millions! Shocked

WOWOW...I love this story! We were just talking about this the other day...I have a pic of me and a friend reading comics on our front steps taken in 1946. The comic I'm reading in the picture IS Action Comics No. 1.
'It was my favorite and it was in good shape. I took care of all I had because 10 cents was hard to come by.
I saved them all. I came home from work one day during my 16th summer and found my comics GONE!
I ask my Mom where she moved my comics too..she said she "Gave them to some kids doen the street!"
She said, "You're too OLD for that stuff NOW!"
It broke my heart...I STILL think about it now and then...I had some of the first Batman and Spiderman too...damnit!
VERY cool story! Thanks for sharing... Cool

sadly, i have heard that tale more than a few times. in fact, there was a collectible store in Connecticut called "My mom threw mine away" that specialized in rare collectibles.

POST THAT PIC!!!!

It's in the bottom of a trunk in storage with the photo's of 5 families within our family, I'm the only one left so I got all the pics..if we ever get moved and unpacked I'll dig it out and post it..
It dosen't prove much, though, it was only a 10 cent comic when the pic was taken in 1946 and when it was given away it was probably only worth a buck at best.. Rolling Eyes

Yeah I read that yesterday, incredible story.

A few years ago I bought a box set of Tops traded Tiffany cards at a yard sale for $10. It looked like someone may have opened the box but the cards were still stuck together. Inside was the Barry Bonds rookie card. He had just hit 600 home runs and I looked on ebay and the card was going for almost $3k. I called up my wife in NY 9visiting family) and she begged me to sell it. I kept it. Now, because of the steroid scandal the card is worth $50.

The Ansel Adams negatives are worth $200 Million...Dean

WOWOW...it's that the way it goes though...the negatives...whoa...just one pic would be fine with me...

Here's one..we went to Barnes & Noble the other day and my Daughter handed me a book on fishing lures and plugs..."Got any of THESE?" Shocked
As a matter of fact I DO...my folks owned a bait and tackle shop in the 40's..my Mom had HER tackle box and my Dad had HIS...untouched since the 60's.. plugs dating back to the 20's 30's some wooden and still in original boxes...I had no idea...some of even the 40's -50's stuff like Bomber Bait lures are worth $150-$200...
SH!T!! I got to go Through all of that stuff...(Mine too) and not fish with it any more.. Rolling Eyes Sometimes people don't realize what they have.

That's awesome. I like fishing and loose enough lures.

Yes 86 Traded Tiffany set. I have not looked through the cards in a few years, but I think Mark McGuire is in there as well. Maybe a few others...Dean

I'll have to scope it out, but there were a few good ones in there I remember. I checked ebay and there is a sealed set there for $295 and a few Bonds cards that are graded that people are asking between $250 and $500. Either the card is worth something or these guys are in denial..Dean
