I'd try the Gibson before I bought it. My son bought one of the faded Gibson SGs with his birthday money and other money he had saved. We had trouble finding one locally. Tried a Gibson LP Special, the one with two humbuckers and it really sounded bad. Compared it to an Epiphone G-400 (their SG) and that cheapo Epi beat the pants off the Gibson. Eventually found an Gibson SG that sounded really nice, but it was the wrong color. Well, patience paid off, we eventually did find one locally and got it new for a song. The on-line folks won't sell below minimum advertised price. You can do better locally (should be able to anyway).

I'd keep the Epi, sell the Samick and shop around for the LP Special.

Good luck.
