We should shoot a gag video of cutting poles with nail clippers, then using wood, or plastic tweezers
we extend the short poles with metal shavings and left over pole cuts. Twisted Evil

Rust-o-leum and Duplicolor both sell metal topcoat sprays.
My dad used to clear coat metal parts with shellac.

The only reason I would use naphtha, acetone, or denatured alcohol would be to remove grease, oil, silicone, oxidation and such.
I just hit it with an airgun, or vacuum the dust off, no need for anyt ...

According to what I found/read the MG series (not sure which model you're asking about) was very problematic.
Try a model search for equipment failures.
